Healing for Patients through Quality Music

This week marked the 152nd episode of the all-Wednesday series organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra, an initiative to provide healing for patients through quality music.

Ghazal and classical singer Prasidh, along with the mother-daughter duo Sheela and Aleena Xavier, presented a heartwarming music performance at the Government General Hospital for the weekly ‘Arts and Medicine’ show of the Kochi Biennale Foundation.

Prasidh began the show with the song, ‘Anuragini Itha En Karalil Virinja Pookal’ from the 1985 Malayalam film ‘Oru Kudakkeezhil’, and followed it up by Hindi song, ‘Chahoonga Mein’.

Next up was Sheila who crooned,  ‘Poonthenaruvi’, ‘Kathodu Kathoram’ and ‘Kanakuyile Padoo’, among others.  This was followed by Aleena’s rendition of the haunting number ‘Maanasa Manivenuvil’, from the yesteryear film, Moodal Manju.

“Music can be a soothing medium and its therapeutic uses have been observed for a long time. I am honoured to be able to participate in this initiative by the KBF. Through the universal medium of music, we can reach out to people in distress and move them with the healing touch”, Prasidh said.
