All proceeds from the event will go to support ASF’s group music therapy program in partnership with the VA.  ASF funds and facilitates regular, on-site, music therapy sessions for Veterans who live at the Community Living Center located on the campus of the Atlanta VA Medical Center.  ASF hires a board certified music therapist (MT-BC) to lead each session.  Each session averages 14 Veterans and lasts for approximately 60 minutes.  Veterans play percussion instruments, tell stories, sing and interact with fellow residents and staff.

Music Therapy is a proven method to help Veterans with social interaction, emotional expression, pain management and physical movement.  MT was first developed after soldiers returned home from WWII.  A significant percentage of soldiers were only reached through the power of music.  The field has grown to over 6,000 board-certified music therapists throughout the country.

“We are excited to celebrate the service of our Veterans and the power of music with a fantastic concert in downtown Atlanta.,” said Jaye Budd, Executive Director of the Alchemy Sky Foundation.
